Carrie Fisher, who iconically played Princess Leia in the original series, tragically left us 2 weeks after Rogue One was first screened on the 14th of December, 2016. This dreadful event marked a very important moment in Star Wars history. Rogue One, which featured a CGI version of Fisher’s younger likeness, is not officially part of the Star Wars film series: it does not feature the famous opening crawl, nor does it have an episode number. Nevertheless, there is a very clear tie-in to the original series, acting as a direct prequel to A New Hope.

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens (2015) – May the Force Be With You

The long awaited seventh episode of the Star Wars series has finally arrived. Directed by J. J. Abrams, the films has been a major success. In fact, it became the third highest grossing film in the history of film-making! All the beloved characters, Luke, Leia, Han and others will once more return for this epic adventure, and maybe even an 8th after that; who knows? The eternal patience of the fans was finally rewarded with the first screening of the film on December sixteenth.

Matt Damon, as an astronaut, trapped in space and hoping to find a way back. No, you are not watching Interstellar, this is the Academy Award-nominated movie The Martian, based on the novel of the same name by Andy Weir. Exciting for all sci-fi fans, this film follows the story of astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon), who survives a storm on his mission to Mars only to discover that his crew has left him behind on the planet after presuming him dead. Watney is now faced with the challenge of survival, equipped only with a few provisions and his sarcastic sense of humour, and the sole aim to let NASA know that he is alive and return home.
